How to Vent a Gas or Electric Dryer In Apartment
A clothes dryer always must be vented. If you live in an apartment building or complex that prohibits venting to the outdoors, use an indoor vent system to trap the lint.
You can buy an dryer indoor vent from an appliance parts store. Vent systems come in different styles, but one of the easiest to install utilizes a container that you fill with water and attach to the exhaust outlet at the rear of the dryer. However, this lint trap must be cleaned after drying each load. You do this by detaching the by container from the dryer exhaust outlet, pouring the lint-laden water into the sink or toilet, refilling the container with water, and reattaching it to the exhaust outlet.
Caution: Never run a dryer that doesn't have a properly designed venting system. Lint is highly flammable and can create a fire hazard if it vents into the air.

If Your Gas Dryer Fails to Dry
The three parts of a gas clothes dryer that become suspect when clothes remain Soaking wet after the dryer has completed its cycle are the thermocouple, the gas- valve solenoid, and the gas valve. All these parts work together to ignite the main burner and to ensure that the unit operates in a safe manner. If one of these parts is malfunctioning, you will have to call a dryer repair service technician. If the technician traces the trouble to the gas-valve solenoid or thermocouple, the part will have to be replaced. On the other hand, a faulty gas valve can usually be disassembled, cleaned, and restored to service. In any case, you should not try to test or repair gas burner components yourself. Before spending your money on the service call, however, make stare that the vent system is clean and all thermostats are working properly.
DRYER PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
A dryer responds well lo preventative maintenance, and I want to emphasize sonic points that may prevent troubles before they start. Like most appliances, voltages at the receptacle with the machine dinning should he within 10 percent of the maker's rating.
Keep the machine lint-free. Remove the lint filter and clean it after own-h use. About once a year, disconnect your dryer and remove the back panels. Using a vacuum-cleaner crevice tool and brush, clean and especially around the heater box and motor. If this not only allows the dryer motor to run cooler, but it also eliminates the lint, especially from some synthetic fabrics, can be very flammable. Inspect all belts for cracking. Tighten all wiring connections securely mid look for signs of loose connections. Check heating surfaces and dryer motors for oil points, and lubricate with the lubricant recommended by the maker of the dryer. Note for dryer motors, this will be SAE 30 non detergent oil. Plastic or roller bearings usually require special lubricants. Most other purposes, or where no particular lubricant is specified it's hard to beat turbine oil as a general-purpose lubricant for home appliances. It lubricates well even when used on bearing surfaces that are subjected to high speeds or high heat conditions. It can be found at most appliance parts distributors in a handy container which is refillable.
TIPS FOR THE USE AND CARE OF A DRYER
Locate dryer for shortest and straightest vent duct path.
• Clean lint filter after each use.
• Check dryer vent once or twice a year to make sure that it isn't clogged.
. Do not overload—this requires longer drying time and causes wrinkling. Dry no more than one washer load at a time.
• Remove clothes immediately at the end of cycle to avoid wrinkling. This is especially important for permanent press
