CLEANING BETWEEN OVEN DOOR GLASS PANELS
PROBLEM: The window in your oven door is dirty you can hardly see into the oven. The glass in an over door consists of two panels held together by a gasket or head of chemical sealer. Hot grease can get between the two panes, resulting in smoking and streaking. To separate and clean the inside surfaces of the panes, do the following:
1. Open the door to the first stop and try to lift it off its hinges. This sometimes takes some gentle adjusting and moving of tire door, especially in regard to the angle of closure. Some doors, however, won't come off unless screws that hold hinges are removed. Do not try to yank the door out.
2. Once you have removed it, place the door of a surface that will not scratch or damage it. Unscrew the handle.
TRACKING DOWN OVEN NOISE
PROBLEM: As you bake or roast, you hear strange noises coming from your oven, like a series of pops.
Popping sounds coming from all oven usually caused by a metal part pan, rack, door panel, or interior panel expanding and contracting as the oven temperature changes.
- To trace the source of the noise, take out one removable part at a time and turn oil the oven. When the oven heats up and you don’t hear the noise, you have found the offending part. If you remove all the metal parts and the noise persists, it is caused by a door panel or one of' the other interior panels. You have the choice of putting up with the annoying sound or replacing the panels, one by one.
SELF-CLEANING OVEN DOOR LATCH FAILURE
PROBLEM: The door latch on your self-cleaning oven no longer securely locks the oven door.
First check your owner's manual to make sure that some operational error is not the cause of the door latch failure. If that is not the case, this is one problem you will be unable to fix oil your own. A number of parts make up the locking mechanism, including the oven-to-temperature control switch, lock solenoid, and door-lock switch. The wiring is also complicate so training and special tools are needed to work on this system successfully. Further more. Up setting or bypassing any of the safety factors, engineered into these locking mechanisms can create an unsafe situation in which it is possible for someone to open the oven door accidentally while the oven is at extremely high self-cleaning temperatures. If you don't wish to incur the expense of having a service technician repair the problem you will have to do without the self-cleaning feature. To keep the oven clean, you will find to wipe up spills as soon as they occur. Second use commercial ovens cleaner periodically see cautions oil, but be sure to rinse the entire cleaner off the self-clean surfaces. This is important, you even have the locking mechanism repaired and start to use the self-cleaning feature again the high oven-cleaning temperature will cause damage to that portion of the filter that still has some residue of the oven cleaner oil it.
